Hey all you funky kids , Amyy here . Just wondering what your opinions are of the mainstream stations - there are some bands I love that get played , like Owl City - but people never actually believe me if I tell them I knew of them before they got on the radio .... leading to the question .
Are there people who ONLY listen to the hit songs on the radio ?
There’s more than one genre of music ....
I’m not against it or anything—Lady Gaga , for example , is inspired by David Bowie , Queen and other classic rock-ers . That’s awesome , considering how so many people are looking at how she dresses . She doesn’t care if she hits the worst dressed list every time—she’s doing what she wants .
That was a bit off topic but that’s okay ^^
That’s all for now

I’m actually kind of upset Owl City got so big, so fast. I drove to Jersey to see him with my best friend [long drive - I don’t live anywhere near there] a year ago, and the show was small and so personal. We met him and everything, and he treated us as if we were his friends :) It really felt like Owl City was singing to us, and we believed we had found a singer that was kind of like our little secret. Nobody back home had any idea who Adam or Owl City was.
Fast forward a year - Fireflies is all over the radio, and the girls I know who listen to Top 40 songs exclusively all talk about how “cute” the songs are and how much in love with the singer they are.
Which is fine. I’m glad he got famous, I guess. Good for him.
But…. ugh.

I am 1 of those ppl who listen 2 the top 40 songs. But the station plays all types of genres and “ear-poppin new music”.
The station plays country, rock, pop, hip-hop,etc.

I love Owl City, and I agree, nho one beleives me that we knew about them before ‘Fireflies’. Gosh, people, they have more songs than that!
Yes, I do agree people only know songs/bands if they hear them on radio. Sad, isn’t it?
