The consensus of the group seems to be to a) lay low and b) analyze the notes. Suggestion for the taking: institute a sabbatical from sleuthing, hone our handwriting analysis acumen, and initiate some intelligence intake. This will give Hal, Callie, and me some time to figure out how we’re going to get notes from the stash of secrets to compare with the one from the doorknob, and what our next steps should be.
A few years ago on a Saturday estate sale excursion, I found this ancient book on what your handwriting explains about you. I bought it for its stylish retro properties and obviously the fact that it’s both “revealing and practical!” I think it’s just the ticket for this little experiment because it was written way back in the day (1920s) when people still cared about handwriting. Some of the pages were damaged—like the ones with the key to the personalities—but most of the book is really fascinating.
Next week we will definitely have samples from the stash in hand to analyze, but here is what you can do in the meantime to hone your skills:
Step 1: Write this sentence on a piece of paper. “Where secrecy or mystery begins, vice or roguery is not far off.” – Samuel Johnson, the English poet (yes, I am channeling Amanda’s tendency to quote here!)
Step 2: Take a look in the gallery. We’ve posted 6 handwriting personality tests (A, B, C, D, G, N) from the book to show you how to study your letters and habits. Put your sample quote through each test. Cornelia is salvaging the personality key from the ruined pages and posting it in the Debate Club for us so we can all see what our handwriting says about us.
Step 3: Report your findings back here so we can all get the hang of it.
Will this help us solve our mystery of the illusive “Leave it Be” note? Yes and no. Hopefully we’ll have something to share with everybody soon, and when we do, we will be well prepped to take a stab at figuring out what kind of character – or characters – we’re dealing with.
