I Am Cougar, Hear Me Roar

Ok, if we are supposed to be looking for something in plain sight—as my annoying little sister seems to think Amanda’s message is telling us to do (I don’t know about you, but I was not even sure what that meant until she translated it, but now I get it)—then how about we start where she did: the totems.  She gave us ours—you guys got yours when you came on the site, right?

Me, I am a cougar.  Strong but solitary and wary, but also (according to Amanda) stealthy and brave.  That’s the idea, at least, and I try to live up to that, although I pretty much have to say I probably fall short, uh, a lot of the time. I do WATCH well, I admit, and observe the details, so maybe that will bring us something?

Anyway, your turn—

How does your specific totem-ness add to the search?

I’m not sure how my…totem-ness will add to the search, but my totem is the Horse. On the info thing, it says I’m a natural born leader, quick-witted and addaptable to chage. And I have to agree on most of those things.

Maybe if we all say what our totems are, and how we are similar to them in real life, it might help us in some way? I don’t know.

Have you noticed that all the totems describe Amanda in some sort of way or another?  just thought i’d put that out there. Okay, here’s my totem-ness: I’m a tigress. i am an individual, a mavrick, and i “march to the beat of no one’s drum”. People find me courageous, strong, and authoritative. I’m not easily influenced by other’s opinions (heck yeah!), and my impulsive nature makes me unpredictable and a “daring force”. I stand out in a crowd. On a desert island i’m perfectly content. I totally enjoy hanging with “dolphins” (like my best friend StarsAndLove :D), cuz i love their free-spirited-ness. :) This TOTALLY describes me in real life. Except im not too authoritative. As a tigress, i think that our stand-out-ness brings other people like us around… people who may also know Amanda. So us standing out and speaking out about Amanda lets people who also know her connect with us.

I am dolphin. “People love to be around you not only because of your quirky sense of humor, but also your ability to laugh at just about everything…including yourself.” That’s totally true. Even when I get embarrassed I laugh it off and pretend its nothing. Famous me: Rachel Mc Adams (I absolutely loooove her) Color me: tye-dye (I always tye-dye my own clothes. I’ve never bought a pre-made tye-dye shirt) Song me: “Hakuna Matata” by Timon and Pumbaa (Lion King is one of my fav movies)

I think this shows that we all have a fun side (some more than others) and we’re all in our own way a free-spirit. Amanda helped bring out all of our crazy and fun sides(how could you not have fun when you’re around Amanda?) We can always find someway to relate with what our friends are going through, and even if we can’t we find ways to comfort them. Amanda definantly needs support. We just need to find the right way to support her.

          I am a raven.
“You’re incredibly intelligent and the fact that you can think on your feet makes you cunning and sly. People look to you for insight and knowledge and (to partner with in all science projects). Because you always seek the truth, you truth-seeker, you, your pursuit of knowledge is never-ending. You’ve never met a book you don’t love, a question you don’t want to answer or a mystery you can’t solve. And your ability look at things from every angle gives you a one-of-kind point of view from that your lofty perch.”

This seems to talk a lot about solving mysteries, looking for the truth, and pursuing knowledge- which is basically what our quest for Amanda is all about. It also says something about looking at things from different perspectives- maybe that is what I could contribute to this. There are definitely a ton of different perspectives in this mystery- ours, Amanda’s, students who didn’t know her, VP Thornhill, adults in town, parents, etc. I will think about that.

I don’t really think this as anything to do with the search..but, who knows? Anyway, I am a deer. A friend. We could be best friends anyone could ever have. Loyal, compassionate, tender-hearted, and true. Board game: Candyland Book:Charlotte’s Web (My middle name is actually, Charlotte. I used to think I was named after the book. But, I’m not. I am actually named after a city in North Carolina, because I dad used to live there. I don’t, though.) And it says that, I cried during Pocahontas. (I had always loved that Disney movie, though.)

            • AllieK

I’m a deer.  I’m loyal to my friends and family, “sweet and tender-hearted”, and “tend to put friends and family – which are both of the utmost importance – before you.”  This is true, I really care about my friends and fam and would do anything for them.  And people say I’m pretty kind and innocent XP I’m also a romantic at heart and can be really sappy.  This is true sometimes, I love romance and always read romance novels and watch rom-coms. Famous people:  Jennifer Grey in Dirty dancing (love that movie) Audrey Hepburn (love that actress)  Song: I’ll back you up, Dave Matthews (like that band) “Your nurturing nature also makes you expert at healing the wounded or brokenhearted, so people tend to flock to you for some TLC. In a nutshell, you get along well with just about everybody, everywhere.”  I do get along with almost everyone, and I’m good at giving advice and comforting people.

This is interesting because Amanda seemed to get along with almost everybody she met and tried to help a lot of people.  I think that this shows that we should continue to help people who are in need of it and help them find themselves, since it might lead us closer to finding Amanda.  Amanda also seems to be in some kind of trouble from what we’ve discovered so far, so we have to find some way to comfort her.

I know this may be a little odd, but is there a zoo in orion? because that is probably the only place we could find ALL of the totems.

                • marycaulf

                  She’s a cougar

                  • marycaulf

                    She’s a cougar!

                    • watermoon

i’m a deer and that means i’m a friend, but i’m not really sure if it will help in this kind of situation

                      • BlueRoseGrey

whos a cougar? and i think catiemarie’s idea is AWESOME! why not go explore all of our totems? Go to a zoo and check out all of the totems, and maybe Amanda left a clue there? I’m just kind of expanding on your idea, catiemarie, not to steal it or anything :) but yeah, we should totally go to a zoo and check out all of the totem animal’s exhibits and see if Amanda left us some kind of clue. Who noes? And if there ISNT one of the totem animals, here are some similar animals:
Raven: uh, idk. But i love ravens! :)
Tiger: well, most zoos have tigers. i don’t think there’ll be a problem there.
                        Deer: uh, elk, maybe? Antelope?
Horse: check to see if there’s ponies or zebras :D
Dolphin: erm… sharks? okay i KNOW that sharks are a dolphin’s natural enemy, but that’s all i got right now… yeah. the aquarium would work.
cougar: leopards, lions, panthers, you get the idea ;)
owl: a lot of zoos have owls, so i think you’re okay there.
bear: a lot of zoos have bears, too. mostly black bears, though.

Okay, once again, i’m not trying to steal your idea, catiemarie. :) just wanted to expand a little! :D

                        • ChicGeek

im still thinking about the wizard of oz. remember the “Lions, and tigers, and bears- OH MY!” thing in the wizard of oz? well, maybe those 3 are totems. maybe that will help.

                          • AllieK

Thats an interesting idea ChicGeek I think bears are totems, not sure about the other two.

                            • BlueRoseGrey

lions aren’t, but Callie is a bear, and i’m a tiger, so they ARE totems. :)

                              • Milana

I find pieces of myself everywhere in the totem descriptions.  I am fun-loving (dolphin), a stubborn leader (horse), intelligent (sometimes annoyingly so; raven), and independent (tiger).  I’m an absolutely loyal friend, but not cuddly or sweet like a deer.

Amanda never actually gave me a totem.  I asked her once when I heard she was telling people.  She just changed the subject without so much as a by-your-leave.

                                • BlueRoseGrey

Milana, i totally agree with having a little bit of each. I think we ALL have a little bit of each :)

                                  • B0rnAquarius

i agree that we all have a little bit of each but i think your totem is the part the is the strongest on you. anyway, im a raven and i think that means that im intelligent or something ill have to double check

                                    • MirkwoodElf

Haha, I’m a Raven, which wasn’t that unexpected. The one thing the totem quiz DIDN’T say about me was that I’m dramatic. Not in a drama queen way, but in a every-moment’s-an-opportunity-for-improv kind of way.I didn’t know Amanda that well…I’m looking for someone who did, so I can start looking closer at what’s happening here.

                                      • LittleStar

I don’t know how much I contribute but I am a deer and qote “So, we pretty much make the best friends. Ever. Ever. Loyal, compassionate, tender-hearted, and true, we’re kind of like all of the Carebears rolled into one super sweet person. People can rely on us to lend a patient ear in their hour of need, but even we may need that from time to time. Hellllloooo other deer.” I think ChicGeek may be on to something, BlueRoseGrey in my oppinion is also on to something, and Amanda is all of the totems combined. I also agree with Milana, because I found parts of myself in all of the totems, but I think most of myself is a deer.

                                          I’m A Tigress and a coyote.
With my tigress I am a individual and No one can even try to make me think like they do.
With my coyote I am Trickster, intelligence, stealth, wisdom and folley, guile and innocence.
And I am just like it in every way.:)

Well, tigers don’t take any crap from anyone. They are more likely to at least appear scary, and possibly frighten “weaker” (sorry, i couldn’t think of a better word…we all have different strengths) beings into confessing information…Does anyone think that Heidi might know more than she is letting on? And what about her mom?! Her reaction to Callie’s confession in book one was really out of character…Maybe she’s hiding something? or someone…

                                            • WhoIAm_Tigote

                                              lemondrop   GO TIGRESSES!!!

                                              • lemondrop

Yeah! :) Also, if a deer or a dolphin has a sneaky side, well, that’s great for pulling out information from someone too…and messing with peoples’ minds is sometimes a lot more fun than twisting arms. lol

Here is what happened one stormy night:
I was doing my homework, staring at the rain leaving faint marks on the window. I heard whispering coming from upstairs, outside and where I was, all at the same time.
‘Be quiet Dad, I am trying to work here!’ I yelled, but there was no reply, Dad must have been asleep. I thought it could just be my imagination so I carried on with my Algebra. Following the whispering came maniac banging which rattled my front door. I was scared that it could have been a murderer, coming to axe me (I didn’t care how far fetched that sounded!) I timidly opened the door, and saw practically the opposite of what I thought it was. It was an auburn haired girl, much older than me. She took my hand and said,
‘If you believe than IT will come true.’ And she was gone in the rain.

                                                    Alright, just lemme say it-
                                                    I’M A TIGER FOR A REASON
when people think of tigers, they think of those striped orange clawed beasts that yawn and sit on rocks all of the time.
                                                    so not true.
we are stealthy, furious, and ready to attack at any moment. Grrr.
If there was one place in town a tiger would hang out… would it be
                                                    a. a martial arts dojo
                                                    b. a dance club
                                                    c. a race track (horses or cars)
                                                    d. or all of the above?
If you answered D, all of the above, you were correct.
Maybe Amanda wants us to look around “Totem Places” for clues, no?
