If the Key Fits

key in the wall

First and foremost, thank you VMisMyHero for using your enviable investigative skills and uncovering the mysterious little gem that is this key. It set us on a path to find out exactly what it unlocks and since VM’s discovery, some details have unfolded.

We had a sneaking suspicion that the key fit everyone’s favorite mysterious secret door – the same one in the painting. But since the door has been concealed and we’ve been warned off, we were not sure what to do. Our curiosity got the best of us, though, and we decided to go back to the secret passageway after school and see if there were any clues we could have missed before.

There weren’t. Everything was exactly how we remembered – completely inconspicuous. Hal and Callie were ready to call it quits but for some reason, I couldn’t let it go. I felt compelled to try something – anything. So I took a guess as to where the doorknob had been and where the corresponding keyhole would be. It took a few minutes to find, but eventually I ran my fingers over a small indentation in the paint. Keyhole shaped. I carefully placed the key over the groove and pushed. Nothing. Tried again and again, nothing. Wiggled it around repeatedly. No Thing. So Callie got down on the ground and gave it a try. (I hate to admit it, but the girl is strong.) She pushed a few times and then, poof! The key slid into the wall. She gave it a turn to the left and… perfect. She said she felt the lock click and unlock. This key – this tiny, hidden key that VM so marvelously discovered – is the key to the secret room.

The door, however, is still sealed shut. We may have been able to puncture the wall where the keyhole was (I’m guessing they didn’t caulk the keyhole before painting over it), but the doorframe itself is still well sealed.

What’s next? I want to ignore that warning and get into that secret room again.

Anyone with me? HOW CAN WE GET IN?

We need to get in to that room…..

Why not… outline the doorframe and try to break the seal….

Yay! Thank gosh the door was ..re-found..=D

I don’t know. I just spend the last 30 min reading over everything… and I mean everything! All the post! I think to have gone this far… we should finish the journey! However, the scary thing is we are not sure what we will find. Moreover, how do we know this has anything to do with Amanda?Could this be a distraction…? I’m just exploring other tangents. Hmm.. I say let’s do it! Use anything to get in and find out the lurking truth.

I want to get into that room!

I totally agree with you Arabella!

          • Ashlee411

I love your idea of outlining the doorframe and breaking the seal AwesomeAnna93! How do you think we can find the edge? And what should we use to break the seal? Gah! I am so curious to get in!

            • TrigistheDevilsInstrument

Well, if you look at the picture in Clues of the doorknob when it was still on the door, it looks like it was on the lefthand side. I think a good place to start would be to try and estimate the distance from the keyhole to the hidden edge of the door using the Clue photo as reference. (The keyhole is obscured in the photo, but I’m guessing that it’s about 2.75 inches). What do you guys think?

              • urban_hippie

I think it’s high time we go back in. Time to grab some paint thinner so we don’t ruin that door and bust our way in! But, more people and more lights. Definitely more lights. Maybe a few more look outs just in case. But more lights. Who knows what we could find.

                • theresaax2

I’d say we break down the door to get in. It’s not that thick, right? Although we’d need to do it inconspicuously and with someone we can trust. To outline it even would cause attention to the area i’d think. But we have to get in!

                  • dem_94

I agree with you urban_hippie, more people, more lights, more look outs. That’s exactly what we need. (:

                    Any volenteers…..?

                    • AwesomeAnna93

                      i agree w/ trig & urban hippie..

we can use paint thinner to find the frame easier…...we can’t thin down the whole wall though so we can use trig’s idea and estimate where the frame was

i’d love to help out. so i’m totally in with this plan! =D

we don’t need too many lights and too many volunteers because of the fact that we’re trespassing on school property… we have to stay on the DL.

if anyone suspects anything we can get in some serious trouble with the law..

                      • Rosie

Okay, I will say this quickly so no one gets any ideas int thier heads…. DO NOT just BURST through the door!!! Seriously… think about it.
                        A) Leaving a gaping hole in the wall will raise Unwanted Attention! Shouldn’t we have a tad more Inconspicuosity??
                        B) If there IS someone watching us to make sure we heed their note, well-Er…They won’t be very happy we broke thier door…
                        C) Why not just try open the door in a different way?? I agree with Trig and Awesome Anna, just break the seal. We just need to tap around the keyhole to find the edges of the door, estimate exactly where the crack between the door and wall is and either scrape or cut through the egdes! Someone I know told me the stuff they probably used to seal it with is quite thin…

                        • urban_hippie

Either way, we are going to need the lights for when we go inside even if we are on school property. Remember the polaroid image? It was completely dark even with the lamp thing. We do need volunteers as look outs though. Just one volunteer isn’t good enough. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

                          • queenpeekoboo

True. Maybe its best to leave things alone even though we a re curious.

                            • Rosie

I don’t know… I think whatever’s in there could be REALLY important… Why would someone go through all the trouble of sealing it if it didn’t hold something important…??

                              • kayleigh

Of course we have to go back in but just in case of the mystery persons warning we should have a guard at the door. By all means though we have to see what is in there because it is afully suspicious to have warned us if there wasnt something important in there or what if just what if that person warned us to actually to get us more curious and get there in the first place. Who knows.

                                • Krystal2295

I completely agree with kayleigh. since we got a warning there is something down there that nobody wants anyone to know about. but what would that have to do with the mystery of Amanda?

There’s no exception to one of my philosophies: “There’s Always Two Ways Out.” Even in secret rooms. In my own school we have secret tunnels that combine into a hallway which lead to drama club dressing rooms. The secret room in question could have something to do with prop storage. It even fits the description: Creepy, Secretive, and dark.

That could be it, Charlotte! What a great idea! We were getting too quick of conclusions ... But you can never be too safe (right word?) when it comes to helping a friend. :)

                                      • RandomInRed

We definetley need to get in the room. Good thinking Charlotte.

only break the door seal as a last resort! try to find another way in 1st! obvi someones watching, so we don’t want 2 leave a trail. keep snooping, just b careful, on stay on the dl!

Some of you gals are talking about leaving this mystery alone.  WE CAN’T.  This is our friend Amanda who’s missing, and I’m not about to abandon her.  Let’s do this thing!  Also, no-no to the break-down-the-door idea.  All is shouts is, “Duh, we’re back!”  to whoever left that note.  Do we want that?  Nooo.  So I agree with the paint thinner, and if it’s just painted over, X-acto blade will do the trick.

get a really sharp knife and cut the outline of the door, and get Callie to do it :P:P:P:P:P:D

                                              • lindzkin

I don’t know how to get in but we must get in there. There is a secrte in there that must be found.

                                                • arvi777

There’s this special knife that cuts paint (I know cuz we just finished painting my house)
And so you could cut the paint and ease the door open. But id suggest being careful because whoever didn’t want you guys to go back might have noticed the opened key hole. Good luck! :)
