On the Other Line
What a strange piece of information. Cisco having Amanda’s number… Does Cisco know more than he’s letting on?
AllieK wonders if it is just a coincidence that her number was listed under “Locksmith,” when we all know that Amanda has a thing for keys. Also, let’s not forget what Hal read to be listed under her personal effects after the car accident: one antique skeleton key.
It seems highly unlikely that there would be some kind of threatening or blackmailing going on between Cisco and Amanda, the way whimzie13 suggested. Or, is Silent-Seas onto something by saying there might be some kind of romance between them? Personally, I cannot picture Amanda as anyone’s girlfriend and certainly not my brother’s girlfriend! But, I am really not sure of anything anymore. So I decided to confront Cisco. I mean, he’s my brother, if he has any information he should disclose it. I caught up with him after his morning run. He runs religiously, the same route everyday, so I waited by a cluster of park benches for him to pant his way over. He took his ear buds out and stopped in front of me. (I was standing, arms crossed, in the middle of the path. He knew something was up.)I looked straight at him. “Locksmith?” He sighed and took a seat on the bench. “I didn’t know if was her number at first. It had been added to my phone somehow, without my knowledge, I swear.” I wasn’t sure exactly what he was trying to say. “Just tell me everything, Cisco, it’s important.”“Okay. So I had been using the art studio after school so I wouldn’t fall behind, and I was there by myself a lot. And then I started getting these notes, I didn’t know who they were from, but whoever wrote them knew a lot about me. Everyday there was a new note, it became this weird routine, you know? And then, the day I told you about, I think you even wrote a story about it, the day I left the door unlocked to the art studio… well… It wasn’t totally an accident. I didn’t forget to lock it. I got a phone call from a number I’d never seen before but it showed up as “The Locksmith,” and when I answered it there was a girl’s voice at the other end.”He continued, “She told me that something was very wrong, that there were people in my life that were in danger. She asked me to leave the door unlocked. So I did. I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t sure that this was the person who had been leaving all those notes. And then when Thornhill’s car was painted I got scared, like I fell for a prank, I was afraid that I would get in trouble and have to sit the season out, so I lied. I felt really bad, but I couldn’t get in trouble. You know how mom and dad are.”
Notes and secret calls to Cisco? What is this danger Amanda is heralding?

Hmmm, very interesting. It doesn’t surprise me that she knew so much about Cisco. It seems Amanda always somehow knew secrets of everyone. Maybe she left those notes to gain his trust so that he would help her with the prank. Not sure about the danger, but its becoming really obvious after reading book 2 that there are more people than we realized are involved in this. Like that list of names Hal found on Thornhill’s computer. It isn’t too hard to believe that a lot of people could be in danger.

Probably she meant that Nia was in danger, and she needed the door opened so she could take the art supplies and paint Thornhill’s car. That means that the art on Thornhill’s car probably wasn’t just a prank but it was a real message to either him or someone else….

How did Amanda put her number in Cisco’s phone

I think Amanda knows that Cisco will do anything to protect the people he loves. So she kinda sorta blackmailed him into leaving the door open for her, but not REALLY blackmail. But I doubt she wanted to tell him too much, in case he got too involved. Then that’d be another person in danger, and Amanda probably doesn’t want that on her conscience. He was probably just convienient, though, knowing Amanda, she probably has something bigger in mind.

Whatever the danger is, maybe it still has to do with that Four Men of the Apocolpyse thing?
And we still don’t know who the lizard is. I don’t think its Cisco anymore, but then who is it?

Also: maybe the whole Thornhill thing is also connected to this “danger”? Perhaps it was a warning?

As of right now, if we go by the list of people on Thornhill’s computer, a LOT of people are currently in danger. The car decoration must of been some sort of warning to someone especially since Thornhill was attacked not long after it. The car may have been a warning from Amanda and kidnapping Thornhill could have been some sort of retaliation from whoever the creeps are. This unseen danger probably has something to do with the weird people lurking around “Play it Again, Sam” and the people you met up with at the hospital as well as the Braggs. There are SO many people involved.

Maybe Amanda Was Worried About The Guides, And Thornhill, Maybe She Thought The People After Her Would Come After Them, And Amanda Was Worried About Nia So She Had To Like Tell Cisco, Or Maybe It Was Just To Gain His Trust. Idk. I’m Kinda Stumped.

Nothing Amanda does is out of convenience nor is it a coincidence. She always has something bigger in mind. I have a feeling that Amanda had a reason for choosing him. This “danger” is definitely linked to the people on the list, people in the Firebird, Thornhill, Mrs. Leary, Mr. Bennet, the guides, and all the other wonky stuff going on. Cisco, if he’s telling the truth, knows almost nothing but did it to protect people. One of his fatal flaws must be personal loyalty and Amanda knew it. He is not the lizard which leaves us with another question: who is?

KylarMorgan, you are exactly right. And the deal with the lizard, some can say it’s implied that the lizard is Bea but is it really? What if it’s someone we don’t even know yet? What if it’s someone we least expect?

Well now we know hs not the lizard. Maybe someone COMPLETLY unexpected is the lizard? Like… Heidi! Or even Thornhill haha
Why did nia text everyone invites, though?

Maybe there realty is a danger. Maybe she wasn’t lying, what if he is in danger? But she didn’t give him a clue, so… He must be out of it.
We need to see these notes. Speculation from beyond this point. If we don’t take action, the trail goes cold.

It’s true that there is a huge danger luring around. I mean, everything you’ve guys gone through, all the coincidences.
But I’m pretty sure Amanda’s message in the car wasn’t a warning. Everything she drew was friendly, sweet, and loving. How could that be a warning?
I think it was a way of saying “be calm.” and my theory is she’s trying to keep everyone safe.
But even as she is trying to keep us out of the front line she still needs our help. That’s why she’s left all the messages… unless we’re on a wild goose chase. One that she plotted to keep us away from danger… I don’t know. I just hope I’ll see her again someday.
As for finding the lizard I don’t think guessing around is going to help… we should set up a fake Amanda letter calling him. So far we know enough about Amanda’s clues as to set up a fake one, calling specifically for the lizard to show up alone somewhere where nobody else would go on their normal routine.
Then we step in a confront him.
I mean if he was friends with Amanda what’s the worse that could happen?

I think someone has been watching you this whole time. To make sure you stay away from Amanda. You are in danger, Amanda is must be safe. She must be hidden for a safe reason. With amanda gone everyone else is safe. Although I want amanda back too, we can’t just mess it all up. You are in danger becaus e you look for Amamanda. Something Amamnda knows is dangerous. You guys just have to be careful.

I honestly wonder sometimes how Amanda does it. I mean, she’s formed this huge, well connected plan with in her head. She’s mapped out all possible consequences and altered desicions and actions to force a future that she finds favorable. I think her notes and clues are her way of leading us directly or most times indirectly to where she wants us to end up. She’s trying to change us for the better, while leading us around, getting deeper into this mystery.
So what kind of future is she leading us into? The strange men that stalk “Play it Again Sam”, Thornhill’s attacker, even the police, I think might be all a part of some conspiracy that Amanda is hiding from, and her map of events is slowly leading us into finding out more about this conspiracy up to the point where there’s going to be some type of confrontation. The only issue is what exactly is Amanda hiding from? What do these conspiracy members want from Amanda and those she’s been associated with?

I know what you mean. Still search for Amanda. But it’s probably best if she isn’t around us. She brings to much… What’s the word? Like as long as we look for her we are in danger. It doesn’t mean we have to stop searching for Amanda. But we have to be aware. Maybe it’s best if Amanda stays a secret? It’s all so confusing!!!!!

Hmm that is very interesting ... but wouldn’t Cisco (assuming it *was* amanda who called) have recognized her voice if there was something going on between them? That kinda makes me think that maybe it wasn’t her , but who else would want the art studio? so yeah ..other than that i am stumped.

She said that the people close to Cisco were in danger- I think that says what it says there. She obviously planned the notes so that Cisco would trust her, so that when she needed the art room she could have it unlocked. That’s probably what “Locksmith” meant. Of course, we don’t know that it is Amanda- it could just be someone using her phone, or number. We can only assume at this point.

Amanda’s a locksmith- closes doors, hides her secrets behind them, and opens others.
Cisco, Cisco. Are there any calls on his phone he didn’t make? Maybe Amanda used his phone to call someone? Just an idea not much info in this story to go on :)

What I don’t understand is, he said he didn’t know it was Amanda’s number “at first”, how did he find out it was Amanda’s? It’s not like he could just go around asking people whos number it is, because if they knew it was Amanda’s, don’t you think they would get suspicious? If a girl disapears, and suddenly someone’s asking about her number, I know I would get at least a little suspicious…

Well, she is pretty sneaky, like when she put the purple horse on Carter’s $5 which was in his back pocket. How the fishsticks did Amanda know about Cisco etc.? Did they even know eachother properly? Maybe it was an affair or something? If so then Cisco could know a lot about Amanda’s disappearance. Maybe even her location, status and plans.

hmmm, this is a very prickly suject. why would she want the door unlocked how did she get his number and who exactly is she and how can she do all these things. i have an idea that she did these things to help them put together this puzzle but why didn’t she just show up! mabye, she’s a ad guy in deguise or…...could she really have powers. very instresting in deed.
