That’s a lot to go on. Stef Stone, Crummyblair, and Dem_94...what have you found at the house? That lines up too perfectly to be a coincidence, right? Theresaax2: anything doing with the handwriting analysis? Me, I’ve got a lead of my own worth sharing:
So, English class, about a week after Amanda disappeared. As you probably know, there have been these French foreign exchange students coming for month-long stints. Well, one of them, Laure, showed up the Monday after Amanda vanished and sits in Amanda’s old seat. I was doing my usual sketching when Laure looked over at my sketch and asked,
“Do you know Amanda?”
I dropped my pen and left Amanda’s face incomplete, on the page. How did Laure recognize Amanda?
After class, Laure told me she had met Amanda in Paris a few months ago—around the time that Amanda was spotted at the train station during that period when she missed school for days at a time.
Laure bumped into Amanda when they were both coming out of the—ready, AwesomeAnna?—Pavillon Carré de Baudouin where Laure had been visiting her uncle. The name only registered with me when you guys brought it up. So get this: Laure and Amanda spent the day together, talking about anything and everything, finding new, strange corners of the city Laure had grown up in but, until meeting Amanda, had never seen before.
Laure had a flood of things to say about Amanda, but there were two that stood out: One, Amanda spoke fluent French but her accent was French Canadian. Two, Amanda gave Laure her phone number but the number turned out to be for Vice Principal Thornhill’s office. Why would Amanda do that? Maybe just a prank? When Laure did call for Amanda, she got Thornhill instead. It was awkward, but he wound up mentioning a cancellation in the foreign exchange program and encouraged Laure to apply for it.
It’s true. Laure showed me the note, the number on one side of the stationery from the hospital.
