Wow, I’m glad all of you guys were able to make it to the carnival! If there wasn’t any funnel cake left when you got there, it’s all Hal’s fault. I swear, he ate his weight in powdered sugar.
Anyway, after blowing wayyy too much money trying to win humongous stuffed animals, we decided it would be best to get down to business. We went to Madame Zee’s tent, but the smoke and incense was too much for Hal after all that funnel cake. He turned pale green and staggered back out into the fresh air. Nia volunteered to go out and check on him, so I met with Madame Zee alone.
The reading I had done was super awkward. Madame Zee seemed to know something she didn’t want to tell me, maybe because she’s a psychic or maybe because she knows I know about her connection to Amanda. She gave me some standard, vague predictions, but then at the end, she asked me very seriously:
“We are all on a quest but really, my child, how is your quest going?”
Quest? Excuse me, I know I’m no Amazon, but what do I look like, a hobbit? There must be something about wearing drapes and gazing into a crystal ball all day that makes you use words like quest. But even quasi-hobbits have to be polite, so I just said, “Fine.” Madame Zee grabbed my hand as I stood to leave and said, “Whatever you do, don’t give up. It will be a long journey but an important one.”
It was really intense and kind of creepy. I left the tent wishing I’d just straight out asked about Amanda, and almost walked right into a dancing, stomping group of people in dark robes.
Cornelia has posted a video we received from a reader who spotted something odd in the background. It was taken a few yards from the psychic tent and apparently about twenty minutes before the dance performance by the people in the robes that themidnighter and LoganMcDonald saw and stef_stone performed in. The girl in the video perfectly matches the descriptions that Yori and AwesomeAnna93 gave us.
Nia and I had a fight about whether the girl in the video is Amanda. I remember that wig, and even Nia admits she’s wearing something she recognizes from Play It Again Sam, the vintage store Amanda loved. Even so, she says it still could have been any random girl. Hal, of course, refuses to take sides.
Have you ever wanted something so bad you see it everywhere? Maybe that’s all this is. But maybe sometimes it does work out that what you want really is right there in front of you the whole time.
