The Dropped Note: Part 5

Hey guys - I'm posting this for SarahSchafer. Based on what she said, I'm thinking this pretty much solves the mystery. At least this one, anyway. . .

locker

Wow. I didn’t even know this website existed! I hope it helps find Amanda.

I’m not sure exactly what you want to know, but I can tell you about the day you guys have been discussing – that Friday when EM2013 saw me standing outside the auditorium with Taylor and Amanda. I had gotten a note in my locker telling me where to go and to hurry because my friend Jamie needed help. When I got there… no Jamie. Just Taylor. We didn’t even have a chance to figure out why the other was there (though it was obvious we were both thoroughly confused) when Amanda shows up, all smiles and sunshine.

Amanda explained this was part of a social experiment she was conducting. She was testing people’s consciences (like, “I know what you did last summer”) or their loyalty (e.g. me) and said she was compiling the results. I don’t know for what, exactly. Why didn’t I ask? You’d think I would be kind of P.O.d about the whole thing, for getting duped and all. I was at first, but then Amanda made me feel it was kind of an honor that she picked me. Like I was special, chosen. Yes, I know that sounds lame but it’s the only way I can explain it.

So I’m guessing when she read the note in class a couple of days earlier it was part of a different “trial” as she called it and just part of her little science project.

I mean, what else could it have been?

    Much better now. Thanks everyone!

I don’t know. Something doesn’t seem quite right.

      • _Bex_

Agreeing with LeeLo. It sounds kind of like something Amanda might do, but…at the same time, it doesn’t quite seem to fit.

        • Kewpie83

I also agree with LeeLo.  I don’t think that really solves the entire question mark around the note.  Sending texts to other students is one thing, but why ‘fake’ a note to herself to see how we’d react?  Doesn’t add up.  Thanks for the info, Sarah.

          • noraorchid

i agree with LeeLo as well…...does sound like her sort of but honestly why would she send one to herself and why has nobody rele seen her in a while?......
this does help tho…..thanks for the info

            • kayleigh

I agree with all of you. This seems kind of fishy. Amanda seemed a little to freaked for it to be some test or experiment.

              • themidnighter

Amanda is really a mystery. She seems to be everywhere. Like she knows everyones’ deepest and darkest secret. But that note wasn’t a trial or anything. Why would Amanda freaked out that way if it’s just fake. That would be really weird and unexplainable . But we are talking about Amanda anyway.

                • Paperdoll

Is it just me, or is it possible that the person behind this so-called “trial” note has ASKED Amanda to pass it off as a minor experiment to prevent them getting suspicious? It’s possible that something she holds dear to her is at stake here; which is why she can’t tell anyone the truth. Maybe she INTENDED to make you feel honoured and special so that you forget about feeling apprehensive and worried. You never know.

                    hmmmmmmmm….......interesting!!!!

                    • peanut_butter

Hmm, Paperdoll, that’s an interseting idea.  And I agree that there’s something a little…off about this solution of the mystery.  But maybe we’re just all being suspicious.  I mean, we’re high school kids.  If we amateur-sleuth this thing out, we’re probably going to get a little overly suspicious.

                      • noraorchid

hmmmmmmmm…....that is a good point….....maybe she was conducting an experiment but then someone else found out about it and sent her a note and it was real but because a few people knew about the test, the other person knew that we would all just think it was amanda being herself…......

                        • CupKate

Maybe it was just an experiment, she is pretty strange - but how could she see how everyone reacted if she has just disappeared? Maybe we are being suspicious, like peanut_butter suggested, but it seems to go to a lot of trouble for a little experiment. Maybe something else has happened to her, that isn’t related to that note…

                          • AwesomeAnna93

Ahh yeah she did tell us that she had a science project to do but never gave details. Hmm my experiment was more like seeing if people can remember stuff… Knowing Amanda she had to go totally in to it.. She’s really good at science projects =]

Maybe this whole site is just part of Amanda’s experiment? Maybe she’s really just one of us and she’s checking how people are reacting to her dissaperance? Maybe she isn’t really gone.

                            • Zapruder

Of course it doesn’t seem right because it’s not. Amanda is smart but nobody is that smart.  OR since she wound up coming back that time-maybe this was a preview for when she disappeared for real?

                              • noraorchid

hmmmm….i agree with AwsomeAnna93 as well as Zapruder…..you guys both make sense…....maybe she is one of us…......or maybe she wants to know if she can trust us to help find her if she really does dissapear…...

                                • Paperdoll

Do you think it’s her way of telling us we need to look out for her, since something is holding her back from stating it explicitly?

                                  • noraorchid

                                    yea that makes sense

                                    • Rosie

Wow… this has gotten extremely complicated… On one hand, she could be hiding in a closet right now laughing at us and our over-active imaginations… but on the other hand, she could be TRAPPED in a closet screaming for help… C.R.E.E.P.Y.

                                      • aGirlLikeMe

This sounds EXACTLY like something Amanda would do. I makes perfect sense! But the question that is still on my mind is ... where is she now? Is it just another project to see how people react to her missing? Well, if that’s it, I am totally mad at her right now. :(

                                        • kimberly

It does sound like something Amanda would do…and she’s a good enough actress to pull the whole shocked look (about the note) but I’m still not to sure…Oh! and last night my friend was at Jupiter (that crazy new resturant) and she swares she saw Amanda in the kitchen doing dishes…All I know is this is really getting crazy…why did…does Amanda have to be so secritive. I talked to her all the time but I really don’t know that much about her

                                          • globalgirl

This is weird, but it sounds like her. Slightly manipulative. I loved her, but sometimes it was too much.
Always somehow knowing what peoples secrets were. And what if her whole theory about the experiment was a lie, a cover, a dupe? Or maybe it wasnt. Why would she need to cover someone’s loyalty right away, unless she would need to use it soon after?

                                            • Lizziex25

She might be testing you. She might think she may need help soon and is making sure you will be there for her.

                                              • Yori

That sure sounds like something Amanda would do but I also like everyone else think is suspicious. However, this being Amanda we’re talking about it makes it all the harder to know what is truth and what it’s not.

                                                • alicewriter13

Judging by Amanda’s face and the mysteriousness of the note, i dont think it was part of her experiment….  Something seriously sinister is going on… i can just feel it

                                                  • Serenity

I agree with alicewriter13. Something’s up. Why would Amanda do an experiment like that. That’s kind of over the limit don’t you think?

                                                    • tiffany923

she totally used the experiment excuse to cover up the fact that she was scared by her note. she planted sarahs and taylors notes probably to take attention away from herself. it seems so amanda!
                                                      ciao, tiff

                                                      • Milana

Sure Amanda would do that, but I know that this time was real.  That note was a threat, and Amanda just barely got herself out of a scrape.  She’s still in trouble, but for now she’s safe.

                                                        • FindingMe<3

I don’t think Amanda made up the note. Someone really threatened her.

                                                          • BlueEyesHawai

it seems like every person in her particular math class had the same thing to say: amanda was terrified beyond belief. and i think we all know that Amanda can be a bit eccentric, but she doesnt seem like the type of person that would write a threatening message to herself that there is no garuntee that anyoe would read or find, and have a odd fit and leave the class with an expression of pure terror on her face. i dont know. its just me.

                                                            • kitkat1112

i think i agree with leelo… i mean if her getting that note was part of her experiment then who sent it to her? i dont think she would have done that to the people around her… and she couldnt have turned pale if she sent it to herself…. i mean she was (is?) pretty brave…

                                                              • AllieK

I agree I can’t believe that the note was part of the experiment it seems fishy somehow.  Like kitkat1112 said, she wouldn’t have seemed as scared if she had sent it to herself.  And I know that she hardly ever appears this worried.

                                                                • RRRules

Can’t say. Once, when Amanda, caught me, she made me promise not to say too much to anyone.

                                                                  • Pipper

                                                                      • Coupe

Remember that last note the guides found in Mr.Thornhill’s car- “help us”? Don’t tell me that didn’t send chills down your spine. AV needs all the help she can get right now, so spill.

                                                                        • RRRules

AV: RR. Listen to me. I know what you’re doing and I understand how you feel *at this point, AV gave my hand a little squeeze* but you can’t say. Even if I leave, no one can know. Swear to me that you’ll *I cut her off here*
ME: Listen, Amanda. This is ridiculous. What can be so important that I need to keep it all a secret. And anyways, you _know_ that I can’t keep secrets so well.
AV: Fine. You can share if I leave, or something, but I trust your judgement that you won’t give it all away. Swear to me.
Me: Fine. *speaks in sing-song voice* I won’t give away all of your secrets-
AV: *cuts off *and no one can know about the experiment. It’s important.
ME: -and no one can know about the experiment. Not a soul will no unless I’m tortured for it. *end sing-song voice* Are you happy now?
AV: Very *gave me a light kiss on the cheek before skipping (yes, skipping) away.

Here we are, trying to find her even if she’s not in trouble. We’d do it again, wouldn’t we? Yes we are being suspicious, but how do people solve things? They got over every detail until they find the truth. Every detail, every theory, and as much evidence as we can get. And Amanda is probably still thinking of us. She might even be on this site!
