Like Jayy Kambayy, my brother, and a bunch of us all got a slightly different version of this weird message from Amanda (mine was, of course, in code). For all of us it seems like she has blocked any way to reply, because a normal, you know, meet me by the front gate text is so not her style. But hey, we're used to that by now.
It's pretty obvi that we need to change direction. Amanda must think we are missing something or the answers are right in front of us.
I think the first bit is “you have to look” ... but im not sure about the next bit.
I didnt get the text, but I checked my inbox and the last text I got from her read
“Madness is the key 2 sanity.”
so maybe that has something 2 do with the message you guys got.
I didn’t get any texts from AV lately…. from a glance that seems to say “You have to look happy” but not sure
Maybe someone can look up what codes or ways to decode messages online to find out what type of code this is. If I had to guess though, I think it says “you have to look up”
My phone battery’s dead now, so I don’t know if I got the text yet. I’ll check later and then post it here if I have one.

Yeah, they’re greek letters.
There’s always another layer in anything Amanda does. I guess we have to go back over things again… maybe revisit some of those places on the Orion map?
Like Sarah B said, it’s written in greek, like I mean all of it. And by the looks of it, it looks like the kind in my social studies book, that I wrote down… let me check…

Greek letters… it says “you have to look harder.”
Cornelia says that: “we need to change direction. Amanda must think we are missing something or the answers are right in front of us.” This means that we should probably ignore whatever we have been investigating lately and get back to the core, unsolved mysteries that there might have been stories about in the past. I agree with Cornelia- we have been following a lot of different leads on different tangents, but we need to get back to the essential questions: Who is Amanda and where is she now?
yeah, i totally agree that its greek letters (i can remember from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie). obviously the message is clear (once it was translated of course haha). So we have to look harder. But in what direction? _where_ do we look harder? i haven’t gotten any wierd texts lately. I mean, my friends’ texts are ALWAYS weird, but nothing from Amanda. I’ll keep posted, though.
It is greek, and as many have said before, it says you have to look harder. (I can read greek fluently, so if any more messages come up like this I can help).
I haven’t gotten any weird texts lately, but my phone has been dead since I lost my charger. And before that I was MIA (at church camp) so sorry I didn’t post much on the last story.
But when Cornelia says ‘What does this mean in Amanda land’, I think Amanda knew we would figure out the text, but the real mystery is what we are missing (which was stated before). However I come up blank with what we need to look harder for, or at…there are millions of possibilities.
By the way, for those of you who have Microsoft Word on your computer, change the font to symbol and in all caps type this message. See what happens ;)
As, many of you said, it says “You have to look harder.” Once I saw that picture, I knew it was that message. I remember from the Debate Club. I searching there for stuff and saw that story. She said it said the same thing , and it had a picture of a girl sitting at her desk. She also said that the same message and picture were what Amanda gave her.
I have no idea what this means, so I’m going to go think about it.

I think we all agree that it looks like “you have to look harder”. Do we look harder at the message?
Also, a delta is a geographical feature. The only one I know of off the top of my head is in Egypt, but anyway…I never got a text message- from anyone! I don’t have a cellphone.
I think maybe she thought we would think it says You have to look harder, but what if that means into the message? What if its in a different code, and the You Have To Look Harder is telling up that?
Instead of just reading (or trying to read) the message in English. I went to look up what the Greek meant. So, since I don’t want to write it all out again (as I was submitting it I lost connection) I’m just gonna summarize it. Ignoring the other letter the Greek like AwesomeAnna93 said are Psi, Sigma , Lambda, Delta. They are all math related.
Psi has a numeral 700. In mathematics, the reciprocal Fibonacci constant.
Sigma a numeral 200. However, the sigma on the text Amanda sent is inside a word and that sigma I found out is used at the end of the word. That letter is also called Stigma which has a numeral 6. The connection I found that makes sense was Stigma is is a ligature of the Greek letters lunate sigma. A dotted lunate sigma was used by Aristarchus of Samothrace as an editorial sign indicating that the line so marked is at an incorrect position.
Lambda a numeral 30. Lambda is the set of logical axioms in the axiomatic method of logical deduction in first-order logic. It can also meant empty though another symbol is more frequently use.
Delta a numeral 4. It basically means change.
Well, I pretty much put together the math related stuff that I found in wiki about the letters. I thought maybe there would be another meaning besides the “You have to look harder” since there’s no U and instead of R there are 2 Ps. Then again, maybe I’m just thinking too much and confusing you as well as myself.
Perhaps we have to look harder into the mystery. Or maybe, you could check that debate club forum thread again, just to see if we missed something? That AwesomeAnna93 mentioned.
Maybe the Greek means, that she is in Greece? And she got a phone that can type Greek. Maybe, or not.

Anyway, I thought of something-
okay, we all know that Amanda was super good at math, as good as Callie, and she was also really good at art, like Cal.
What if Amanda was some sort of child genius/prodigy? We should look for newspaper articles, magazine stuff, internet files about child geniuses or prodigies about… (um, how old was Amanda?) # of years ago. Maybe they even have pictures that we could look at and see if we could identify Amanda.
Or maybe just the letters AV in her name, since I’m pretty sure AV are her real initials, she just uses different aliases. (She could be Alice Valentine. Has a nice ring to it).

or it could mean that it has everything to do with her, her past and her future
“You have to look harder” Amanda is making it pretty difficult for us to find her. Making were’re looking too hard. Maybe we are missing whats right infront of us. Amanda could be anybody, anywhere.

it does say tht you have to look harder. but i agree with StarPink22: maybe we’re just trying too hard. i also agree with AlexInvisible. Manda was pretty bright. we should check out newspapers and articles. they have math competitions right?? they might’ve posted stuff on Amanda on the webernet. it could be a lot of work, but we would be able to see just how many places Amanda’s been to. if there’s been a math competition in Mexico and Amanda won it, than we’ll know she’s been there and that she prolly speaks spanish fluently. she was also a columnist for the school newpaper right? maybe she hid some clues in her articles. more greek or watev. that might be able to help.
The only way Amanda could have sent that message was if she had either
1) a phone with symbol/greek font (or something along the lines of that)
or…
2) she had a phone with microsoft word or something. Maybe internet (which many phones have).For everything else I agree with all of you. Maybe we just have to look at EVERYTHING a little harder (all though that might be a little much).
If AV competed in math competitions, and they posted stuff on the web, then the last place she’s been might be where she is now or something like that.
Oh, and lil*dezray, I don’t think we should be using that kind of language on this site.

I think TrumpetGirl is definitely right when she says it means You Have To Look Harder, but I also think that Yori had a good idea looking into the numbers. I think I’ll look some more into each theory or at least try to. By the way, have anyone tried to magnify the image? It’s a long shot but maybe…....
Oh and also…..I just checked the image in MS Paint. No such luck with there being anything you’d have to zoom in on. But when you zoom up to a certain point the little black dots almost look like they could be text. Oh well. Maybe we are just trying to hard.
I just realized something, or two somethings actually. (Both of them might not have much relevance, but oh well).
Could the fact that Amanda sent Cornelia a letter in Greek mean she is trying to tell us more about her heritage? Greece was part of Italy twice (all though it is not now), and we think [one] of Amanda’s last names might be Italian. Why did she choose that last name? And in the Greek alphabet, there is no letter V. I checked multiple times. There is however an A, which many of you also know, is the first letter of both the Greek and English alphabets (and in greek form even makes up part of the word alphabet).
i did what trumpetgirl did and went on microsoft world and put on symbol and capitals and wrote YOU HAVE TO LOOK HARDER and the exact message came up i think what amanda wants us to do is to look either harder for her or cassie’s mom.
Maybe linking the greek letters with the numbers they symbolize -like Yori did- is the key.

maybe if we take the words, you have to look harder, and then took the letters in the place of the missing ones, it will spell a message. in greek or in english.
wait, the letters are uvldrd. maybe if we umsramble them, they will spell a message.
i looked up the letters on google, and came up with psi omicron upsilion eta alpha sigma epsilon tau omikron lamda omikron omikron kappa eta alpha rho delta epsilon rho.
I don’t think the letters uvldrd spell anything. They are just letters. (Maybe its because there is only one vowel and its a five letter word, and all the other letters are sort of hard to form a word.
I think it says “You have to look” The last part i was thinking could be backwards. It spells peapah but i looked it up on dictionary.com and there are no results but i looked it up on google and there was a couple of wierd results. i looked up vexing and it means to annoy. Although i do not think amanda is trying to annoy us. It also means to distress someone. I think im starting to get this. The code could be in greek. We could look up the letters in greek match them to english and see what it says

i think that eacj place she told to each person is connected to them in some sort of way. and the lies she told is the truth from a different point of view. like its the truth in her oppinion

I agree with Purple*Rose, and that there is a connection. A couple of months a go I was thinking things simillar to her idea, I don’t know how I got this idea, it was after my final exams, so my mind could have been just mushed, but I thought some how that Amanda is like Callie’s sister, but when she was born she either disappeard, was kidnapped, or put up for adoption, so later on as they got older, Callie’s mom thought that Amanda was in trouble or something, so she hadto leave quickly, but strangely after Callie’s mom left, Amanda ahows up in Orion. just a small hunch.
