I have been at summer camp for the last eight days.
It has been in the nineties all week. There is a lake, but the swim periods are annoyingly short. There is no air conditioning whatsoever. The ground is covered in sand EVERYWHERE. Not just at the lake. In the woods, outside the cabins, anywhere and everywhere there is sand.
The girls’ cabins are at the top of a long, steep, winding hill, and if you forget your water bottle in your cabin, you will either come close to your legs falling off from exertion or go thirsty. We had to go up that hill at least six times a day. I also forgot to mention that the path is made of SAND!
To get to the swimming area, you have to go down exactly 117 steps. (Yes, I counted. Its not like there’s anything better to do when going down steps.) And when you’re done swimming, guess what? You get to go UP the stairs.
There are around 14 people to a cabin, and yet there are only two showers. :P
But despite all these difficulties, I love going to camp. You get to meet new people, see your old friends again, and have fun. Plus the food is to die for.
The moment I got home, I took a long, long, long hot shower, brushed my teeth for about ten minutes straight and painted my toenails. And while being home is great, I miss my friends and getting seconds and thirds and fourths of taco salad.
